Twenty-five years of the bulletin of the National Academy of Engineering and Habitat:

Memory, critical thinking, and commitment to the development of Venezuela (2001-2026)

Abstract

This work commemorates the XXV anniversary of the Boletín de la Academia Nacional de la Ingeniería y el Hábitat (ANIH), a publication that since its founding in June 2001 has served as the official vehicle for disseminating technical thought, research, historical memory, and doctrinal guidance of the institution. Throughout 70 issues and 25 years of uninterrupted publication, the Boletín has evolved from a semestrial periodicity to become a quarterly scientific-technological journal, recognized for its rigorous double-blind peer review system and its inclusion in the Revencyt and Latindex indices. The work offers a comprehensive overview of this trajectory, addressing the origin and foundations of the publication, its editorial evolution through the different stages and editors who have directed it, and a detailed synthesis of the 478 works published, in which 214 authors and co-authors have participated. The extraordinary variety of thematic areas covered—including the history of engineering and technology, geology and mining, water resources, transportation and road infrastructure, structural engineering, urban planning and housing, agriculture and food security, energy and energy policy, environment and sustainable development, disaster risk management, engineering education, and professional ethics—has been organized into fifteen major thematic axes that allow for an understanding of the structure and scope of the Boletín's academic production. Likewise, the sixty institutional declarations and pronouncements published in the Boletín are compiled, reflecting the role of the ANIH as a "critical conscience" of the nation in the face of major national challenges. The work constitutes not only a synthesis of the Boletín's history but also a record of the activity and thought of the Academia Nacional de la Ingeniería y el Hábitat since its foundation, offering testimony to the institution's commitment to the development of Venezuela through knowledge, memory, and discourse.
