geological Interesting Facts and Other Data on the Mining Potential of the Cedeno Municipality Bolivar State, Venezuela

Abstract

Due to the success of the first edition of the Expo Metal Iron, Steel and Aluminum 2024, it was held again in Puerto Ordaz, Bolívar state, Venezuela, the second edition of this event, from March 17 to 21, 2025, under the name of Expo Metal 2025 Iron - Steel, Aluminum, Services and Mining, sponsored by CVG also, it always focuses on showcasing the potential of the state of Bolívar in the industrial, mining, commercial and tourism areas. Likewise, there were spaces to show the public the technological innovations of the geomining sector in the region, as well as the mining potential of Guayana, which is often underexplored. For this reason, the second and third days of the event were used for technical presentations, which was an opportunity to emphasize the mining potential of the Cedeño municipality, Bolívar state, which is a region with a mining vocation, especially in the Los Pijiguaos parish, where the large deposits of bauxite and other minerals of interest stand out, which are described briefly in this paper. In addition, other topics of interest were incorporated, such as a summary of the sequential management of a successful mining project, the terms mineral resources versus mineral reserves, according to the JORC Code, and a segment of “geological curiosities” was added, where the occurrence of the mineral topaz is reported for the first time in Guayana, near Los Pijiguaos. Furthermore, the recommendation to carry out the necessary prospecting and exploration campaigns in a systematic and responsible manner is emphasized, in order to verify the technical and economic feasibility of the mineral resources present in the area.
